MF DOOM's MM..FOOD, released in 2004, is now recognized as a hip-hop classic album full of imaginative production, brilliant wordplay, and unique themes.

Celebrated for its seamless blend of humor, wit, and social commentary, the album transports listeners into a bizarre world of food metaphors and paints a bitterly comedic portrait of a life corrupted by vice, violence, and jealousy. A brilliant and novel concept at the time, it gave DOOM plenty of room to explore the album's themes. Throughout MM..FOOD, DOOM embeds complex ideas in seemingly simple narratives. The album opener “Beef Rapp” is a multi-layered metaphor that reminds listeners of the dangers associated with glorifying conflict, especially in rap. “Hoe Cakes” borrows its name from the sweet cornmeal cakes filled with hot water, which he uses as a symbol to rhyme about indulgence and excess. With “One Beer,” produced by Madlib, DOOM continues the motif, folding layers of depth about escapism and ego, while the popular “Rapp Snitch Knishes” criticizes sales discrimination and the contradictory behaviors of some rappers. Overall, MM..FOOD is both a social commentary and a piece of social satire, showcasing MF DOOM's ability to combine serious topics with his unique, playful lyrical style.

To celebrate the album's 20th anniversary, MM..FOOD has been repackaged with completely new artwork by Sam Rodriguez!
